In 2015 the Medical Schools Council published Health of the Nation and Health of Scotland, publications which showcase the best medical research from medical schools across the UK. Both publications are comprised of examples of research submitted by medical schools to the Research Excellence Framework 2014. This research is presented across four sections:
- Improving clinical practice
- Boosting the economy
- Delivering benefits to society
- Beyond borders
The funding bodies are essential for this research to happen, and those such as the Medical Research Council, Wellcome Trust and many others are essential to the continued high quality of UK medical research.
